Features of CAT EYE Xross

1) Fully multi-coated lens

The objective lens uses ED glass, which exhibits extremely excellent optical performance, and corrects chromatic aberration, which causes color bleeding. In addition, the entire surface is multi-coated to achieve a bright field of view. The prism is coated with a highly reflective derivative multi-layer film and a phase difference correction coating to achieve high contrast and resolution.

ED lens [Extra-low dispersion lens]
Effectively reduces color bleeding

Since the refractive index of light varies depending on the wavelength, the light that passes through the lens will not be focused on the same color. This is called chromatic aberration, and is one of the causes of image quality degradation.
To suppress chromatic aberration, a convex lens with a small difference in refractive index depending on color is combined with a concave lens with a large difference in refractive index depending on color to suppress the occurrence of chromatic aberration.
However, while a combination of normal optical glass lenses can correct the misalignment of light in the red and blue regions, it cannot correct the misalignment of light in other regions.
This is residual chromatic aberration. ED lenses are lenses that use ED (extra-low dispersion) glass, which reduces residual chromatic aberration, making it possible to reduce residual chromatic aberration.
It effectively reduces focus shift, which becomes more difficult to correct as the focal length becomes longer with lenses made of ordinary optical glass.

Characteristics of ED lenses

・Reduces color bleeding and contrast loss. ・Significantly reduces chromatic aberration, a problem with telephoto lenses. ・Effective when observing at high magnification. ・Suitable for observations that emphasize natural color reproduction.

2) Automatic switching to the optimal anti-shake mode

When the switch is turned on, the vibration reduction function is activated.

When the anti-shake function is activated, it automatically switches to one of two anti-shake modes depending on the situation.
X1 mode is suitable for moving objects.
X2 mode is suitable for stationary objects.

3) Designed to last approximately 30 hours on a single AA battery

The power source is AA alkaline batteries, which are easily available at convenience stores and other places around the world. It can be used for approximately 30 hours. There is no need to worry about running out of battery, even during long periods of use such as at concerts.

4) Easy to hold form

The focus ring is located in the center of gravity of the body, making it easy to hook your fingers. The soft and elastic elastomer material allows you to hold the binoculars securely.

5) Focus ring crafted by artisans

The height of the bumps on the focus ring has been adjusted by hand by a craftsman to the nearest tenth. The focus ring fits comfortably in your fingertips, allowing you to accurately capture the subject even with delicate focusing. Please enjoy the feel of a master craftsman's hand.

6) Lightweight model that reduces fatigue

Although it is a large model with a diameter of 42mm, it weighs only 559g (excluding batteries), making it a lightweight model that will not tire you out even when used for long periods of time, such as when walking around all day bird watching.

7) Waterproof design for peace of mind when using it outdoors

Even when outdoors, where you are often faced with adverse conditions such as sudden changes in weather and fluctuations in temperature and humidity, the waterproof design (optical system: IPX7 equivalent) is filled with nitrogen gas, so you can use it with confidence.

8) Comfortable even for eyeglass wearers

The long eye relief design of the eyepiece features a three-stage twist-up type extendable eyecup, making it easy to change the eyepoint and comfortable for people who wear glasses.
